Privacy Policy

MacroTune (“we”, “us”) is a meal planning and macro-tracking application operated by Levant Labs. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights over it.

1. Who we are

MacroTune is operated by Levant Labs. Contact: info@macrotune.com.

2. What we collect

Account information

• Email address — required to create an account, sign in, and receive verification, password-reset, and (if enabled) reminder emails.
• Password — never stored in plaintext. We store a one-way bcrypt hash so we cannot recover your password.
• Account timestamps — when your account was created.

Content you create

• Ingredients you add to your library (name, serving size, calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber).
• Meals you build from those ingredients.
• Daily meal plans, logged meals, quick-log entries, and your macro targets.
• Reminder preferences (which emails you want to receive and when).
• Streak counts derived from your logging activity.

Used without an account

MacroTune can run without signing in. In that mode your data is stored only in your browser’s local storage and never sent to our servers.

Technical data

Our hosting provider (Railway) records standard server logs (IP address, request URL, timestamp, user agent) for operational and security purposes. These logs are retained briefly and are not used for advertising or profile-building.

We do not use cookies for tracking. Authentication uses a JSON Web Token stored in your browser. We do not run analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking pixels.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the core features of the app: storing your library, computing macros, generating meal plans, and showing trends.
• To send transactional emails: account verification, password reset, and reminder emails you have opted into.
• To diagnose problems and prevent abuse using server logs.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your nutrition data to train machine-learning models.

4. Third-party services

The following third parties process limited data on our behalf:

• Railway (hosting) — stores the application database and serves HTTP requests. United States.
• Resend (transactional email) — receives your email address and the email body when we send you a verification, reset, or reminder email. United States.
• USDA FoodData Central (food search) — when you use the in-app food search, your search query (e.g. “chicken breast”) is sent to the USDA’s public food database API. Your account information is not sent. This API is operated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

We do not embed advertising networks, social plugins, or analytics services.

5. Data retention

Account data and content you create are retained while your account exists. Server logs are retained for a short operational window (typically under 30 days). When you delete your account (see Section 6), all associated data is removed from our active database.

6. Your rights

• Access and export — use the “Export Data” menu inside the app to download your ingredients, meals, and plans as a JSON file.
• Delete — you can delete your account from inside the app via Settings → Delete Account, which removes your account and all associated content. You may also email info@macrotune.com to request deletion.
• Correct — edit your ingredients, meals, plans, and macro targets directly in the app.
• Withdraw consent for emails — turn off reminders in Settings, or reply to any reminder email asking us to stop.

7. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt; we never see or store plaintext passwords. Traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. We follow standard practices to limit access to the production database. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users if we become aware of a breach involving their data.

8. Children

MacroTune is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International users

Our servers are located in the United States. By using MacroTune, you understand that your data will be processed in the United States. Where applicable, we rely on standard contractual clauses with our service providers to protect international transfers of personal data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be communicated via email to account holders.
